Do you have fond memories of summers spent tying lanyards and singing camp songs? Did you miss out on bunk beds and making best friends?
Either way, this camp is for you!
The Getaway is about stepping out of your normal routine to find connection with yourself, with others, and with nature. Adults (21+) of all camping skill levels are invited to come spend a weekend living the summer camp life. It can be as adventurous or as relaxing as you choose. We will have activities all throughout the weekend and you get to pick and choose which ones to attend. We'll provide upscale camp food and air-conditioned cabins to make your stay comfortable.
Your weekend cost includes a wide assortment of camp activities such as kayaking, Corkls, nature exploration, archery, fishing, yoga, hammocks, arts & crafts, lawn games, rappelling, campfires and s'mores. Your lodging accommodation and meals are all part of the package.
Weekend registration fee is $295 per person. We will offer specialty workshops available at an additional charge. We’re planning a great weekend for you and your friends! Check back later or fill out the form for more information about specialty workshops.
What meals are provided?
Upgraded camp meals will be served for dinner on Friday, breakfast, lunch & dinner on Saturday, and Sunday brunch. You’ll have the opportunity to inform us of dietary preferences or restrictions when you sign up.
What are the lodging accommodations?
Each “rustic” cabin includes bunk beds, a restroom, and a table. Outside, there is a covered porch, picnic table, fire ring, and a nearby shower house. Cabins have heat and air conditioning, are furnished with twin-size bunk beds, and have a half bath. Shower houses are located in nearby buildings. You will need to bring your own bedding. Our cabins generally have space for 8 to 10 people. You can request sleeping accommodations for all females, all males, or an all-gender space. Groups coming together can be placed in cabins as roommates, just let us know when you register so we can pair you up.
What activities will be offered?
Weekend activities will be a variety of traditional summer camp fun, like kayaking, Corkls, nature exploration, archery, fishing, yoga, hammocks, arts & crafts, lawn games, rappelling, campfires, and s’mores. You’ll get a schedule at check-in and you decide how much and when you want to participate. Maybe you want to try something outside of your comfort zone, like conquering a fear of heights on the rappelling wall, or trying a craft like fiber arts for the first time. Maybe you just want to spend an hour relaxing in a hammock. The choice is yours!
*Activities are subject to change based on staffing, weather, capacity, and session.
When you aren’t participating in activities, you can take a walk through the woods, sit on the shoreline and watch the sunset, spend time in your cabin, or hang out in the lounge where you can meet new friends. You can also visit the trading post for souvenirs, snacks and sips.
What do I need to bring?
A complete packing list will be provided to participants prior to the event, but here are some ideas: bring your own bedding and toiletries; a couple changes of clothes as well as close-toed shoes; bring general camp items like a flashlight, bug spray, and sunscreen.
What will the schedule for the weekend look like?
Gates will open on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and we will have a welcoming gathering at 6:00 p.m. Our weekend will conclude on Sunday at noon. There will be an assortment of activities scheduled each day. Some will have specific start times and others will be come-and-go sessions.
Is this really for me?
Probably.
If you’re at least 21 years old you’re a great age for camp. The Getaway weekend is open to all adults, regardless of gender or identity, race, religion, national origin, socioeconomic status, disability, sexual orientation, marital status or other aspects of diversity. Bringing a mix of people from different backgrounds, experiences, ages, and lifestyles and creating community is one of the things we do best. Discrimination based on an individual’s identity is demeaning to all, impairs everyone’s participation, and violates rights. Bias, prejudice, discrimination, and harassment in all forms and manifestations will not be tolerated.
Campers don’t need to be in perfect shape but should be able to walk up a flight of steps and walk ¾ of a mile a day. Sadly, at this time our Getaway location is not wheelchair accessible.
Is it ok to come by myself?
Absolutely!
Is it ok to come with a group?
The more the merrier!
Can I bring my own drinks and food?
You may bring your own alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages. You are responsible for the care of your own beverages – break out your cooler! If you forget to pack your drinks, you won’t go thirsty. Non-alcoholic beverages, from coffee in the morning to flavored waters and tea will be available all day long. Adult beverages will also be available during dinners and each evening.
As for food, you may pack your own snacks, however they must stay in the main lodge to keep critters away. We’ll provide you with your own cubby to keep your snacks in that you can access at any time.
Where is camp?
Our camp is situated on the beautiful shores of Fort Gibson Lake. It is 45 minutes from the Tulsa city center near Chouteau, Oklahoma.
Are pets allowed?
Nope. Sorry, pets are not allowed at our camp.
Are cell phones/technology allowed?
The weekend is called the Getaway and we want this to be a relaxing, fun experience for everyone. We’d love to say that everyone will completely disconnect and live in the moment while they are here, but we also understand that being able to do that is not a reality for everyone. We strongly encourage you to disconnect as much as possible. Use your phone to take pictures and collect the contact information for your new friends and try to minimize the emails and text messages from the outside world. Limited internet access is available in the dining hall.
Can I arrive early or stay late?
Nope, sorry.
Can I arrive late or leave early?
We hope you’ll be able to join us and stay for the whole weekend, but if you have to miss some of the time, we’re glad you can be there for part of it. Your pre-camp packet will give you details about how to let us know if you need a different check-in time. The registration fee will not be discounted for any time you have to miss.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations on or before April 1 will result in a 50% refund. Registrants who do not attend, or cancel their registration after April 1, will be responsible for full workshop fees. You may, however, send a substitute in your place. You must notify Camp Fire (918-592-2267) in advance if doing so.
Do you have any other rules?
No illegal drugs. If you break this rule we must eject you from camp.
